Back in 2015, I had been selling on Amazon for several years and was starting to grow weary of the time and energy required by maintaining the busy retail arbitrage schedule I had been implementing in my business for several years. I knew I wanted to add a wholesale component to my business to relieve some of that stress, so I started looking around for courses I could take to quickly learn wholesale strategies. I am a firm believer that if you want to quickly accelerate your business’s growth in a particular area, taking a course is the most efficient way to learn information and make the learning curve less steep.
During the course of that year I took three different wholesale courses: one free course and two paid courses. I learned some of the basics about wholesale, but I wasn’t really able to use the information from these courses to find success in wholesale. I was still spending a lot of my time and energy using trial-and-error techniques to attempt building up the wholesale side of my business.
Retail arbitrage came so naturally to me, but wholesale strategies were a whole new ball game. After going through those previous three courses, it wasn’t until I went through The Wholesale Formula that I truly found a way to accelerate my business’s wholesale growth. No more dead ends, no more frustration. I was finally finding success in wholesale sourcing for my Amazon business.
The Wholesale Formula is a massive online video course that teaches you how to successfully add wholesale accounts to your Amazon FBA business. At the same time, though, The Wholesale Formula is so much more than just a video course. It also includes the following:
- An exclusive support group for course members where you can ask questions and search the archives for information from current and previous Wholesale Formula students.
- Access to numerous recorded webinars
- Access to 3 months of Wholesale Momentum coaching (where you can ask questions in real time).
- Lifetime access to all future updates of The Wholesale Formula course. For me, this is a huge deal. I’ve been able to continue learning new Wholesale Formula content in the years since I first took the course, including modules on how to include virtual assistants in your wholesale sourcing strategy.
The Wholesale Formula just keeps getting better and better as time goes on. As Amazon changes their rules and guidelines, the guys who put together The Wholesale Formula stay on top of the changes and add new updates to the course to keep us students in the know. I love that those updates are an automatic part of my membership in The Wholesale Formula course.
Now, I want to be completely up front with you about The Wholesale Formula. It is an expensive program. It requires a significant investment of time and money to be able to take the course. I want to spend the rest of this chapter answering the question, “Is The Wholesale Formula worth it?”
I have three main reasons why I wholeheartedly believe The Wholesale Formula is the best wholesale course available for Amazon FBA sellers and is worth every penny you pay for it.
1. The Wholesale Formula is the most complete wholesale course available.
As of this writing, The Wholesale Formula has over 90 simple and straight-forward videos and multiple deep-dive webinar replays. During each enrollment period, they also schedule multiple coaching sessions (during the afternoons and evenings) for you to join and ask your questions live on the webinar. You also get access to the coaching session video replays. As I mentioned earlier, The Wholesale Formula includes multiple courses in one: the wholesale sourcing course is just the beginning as you also get a course on how to provide value props to brand owners, a course on how to outsource your wholesale business using virtual assistants, and more!
Every other wholesale course I’ve looked at or been through talks about how to find a wholesale company and about what types of products to buy. What these other courses leave out is the middle steps of the process – how to actually get a wholesale account and begin purchasing profitable inventory.
Getting accounts is harder than just making a contact and asking for a product catalog. The Wholesale Formula includes the crucial middle steps of how to land those accounts and start purchasing inventory to sell on Amazon.
Before I went through The Wholesale Formula, I was expending a ton of time and energy trying to make contacts, but I got nowhere. It is no exaggeration to say I had the proverbial door slammed in my face 100 times, with not a single wholesale account to show for my efforts. My emails were ignored. My phone calls were ignored. If I did get a response, it was “I’m sorry, we’re not working with Amazon sellers.” So many things went wrong during that time period, and I was extremely frustrated.
It wasn’t until I learned the strategies included in The Wholesale Formula that I actually started landing accounts and making purchases. I can now contact wholesale companies with confidence and work out a deal where they allow me to sell their items on Amazon. Every other wholesale course I’ve looked at leaves out the important middle step in the process, and for this reason The Wholesale Formula is the most complete wholesale course on the market.
I’ve also been able to use the VA (virtual assistant) trainings from The Wholesale Formula to help me outsource parts of my wholesale sourcing. It’s saved me so much time having a VA do some of the easier aspects of wholesale so I can focus on the more important aspects.
2. The Wholesale Formula is the most content-packed wholesale course available.
There is no fluff in the content provided in The Wholesale Formula. Every moment of the videos is packed with information you can use to benefit your wholesale strategy in your business.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken a course about online selling (wholesale or otherwise), and the first 10 minutes or more of each video module includes two teachers chatting back and forth about trivial matters completely unrelated to the course content. What a waste of my time! I purchase a course because I’m trying to save time and cut to the chase. I don’t want to spend my time waiting for the video to get to the point.
Not so with The Wholesale Formula. The makers of the course know your time is valuable, and they pack every moment of the videos with information vital to building up your wholesale business.
Here’s a question I often get when people are considering taking The Wholesale Formula course: “Stephen, can’t I find all of this same information on YouTube for free?” And my answer is… maybe; you probably can. I would imagine there’s thousands and thousands of hours of free content on this topic on YouTube. And I suppose if you have all the time in the world, you could wade through thousands of videos and find the right nuggets of information you could use to build up a similar wholesale strategy for your business.
But if you’re interested in eliminating the fluff and getting straight to the point without having to sort through hundreds of potentially useless videos, The Wholesale Formula is the most content-packed course you can invest your time and money in.
3. The Wholesale Formula actually works.
Simply put, there is no other wholesale-focused course that delivered better results in my Amazon business (and in my wallet) than The Wholesale Formula. I can tell you from personal experience that after you take the course, you’ll be perfectly equipped to dominate wholesale sourcing.
Six months after taking this course, the wholesale items I bought were selling so well on Amazon that I was already placing reorders with multiple wholesale companies. That is one of the best feelings in the world. Often, when inventory I source via retail arbitrage sells out on Amazon, I’m not able to go back to the store and restock those items. But with wholesale sourcing, restocking is super easy! I just place a reorder with my wholesaler when my Amazon stock gets low and the items just keep selling.
For those three main reasons, The Wholesale Formula is the only wholesale course that I can emphatically recommend for learning how to add wholesale strategies to your Amazon FBA business. I often get questions from readers wanting to know which other courses I’ve taken, but I tend not to publicize those course names. They aren’t bad courses, and I don’t want anyone to think I’m giving them a bad review. It’s just that The Wholesale Formula is more complete and more content-packed than anything else I’ve seen on the market.
*Updated for 2023

But this opportunity to get my bonus package will expire when time runs out.
If you purchase The Wholesale Formula you’ll not only get The Wholesale Formula 2024 video course (with all the bonus videos, coaching calls, focused Wholesale Formula support group, etc.), but you’ll also get FIVE special bonuses from me.
BONUS #1: Access to 5 of my digital ebooks and video courses for FREE! (Value = $1645)
You’ll get:
Next Level Amazon ($997)
The Reseller’s Guide to a Year in FBA ($297)
Married to Reselling ($27)
The Reseller’s Guide to Sales Rank ($27)
How to Have a 6-Figure Q4 Masterclass ($297)
That’s $1645 in bonuses so far (yes, there are more coming). These are not made up prices for items I never sell… this is $1645 in real content that I regularly sell at full price all year long. You can get it all at no additional charge if you enroll in The Wholesale Formula via my link.
BONUS #2 – Exclusive access to the master class: How to Maximize Your Profits with The Wholesale Formula (Value = Priceless)
In this exclusive master class, I’ll teach you:
- How to turn the wisdom of The Wholesale Formula into actual results.
- What to expect in your first few months of buying from wholesalers.
- How to overcome your fears of securing new wholesale accounts.
- Strategies to succeed with wholesale while still doing RA, OA, or both!
- How you can outsource key parts of wholesale to free up more time.
- And so much more!
Again, this exclusive master class is only for those who purchase The Wholesale Formula via my link.
BONUS #3 – Exclusive TWF Wholesale Leads List (Value = $350)
How would you like personal access to a list of at least 150 pre-screened wholesale leads? This is a list that you (and nobody else) will get access to. All of these wholesale leads will pass the following criteria:
- Are from your choice of 10 best categories for wholesale opportunities
- The product has 60+ sales per month
- The selling price of the product is over $9.95
- Amazon is NOT a current seller
That’s right! These are at least 150 (and potentially over 200) leads that will all be in the same category of your choosing. Choose from the following categories for your personalized leads list (Automotive Parts & Accessories, Baby, Garden & Outdoor, Health & Household, Home & Kitchen, Grocery & Gourmet Foods, Office Products, Pets, Sports, or Toys & Games).
This bonus alone is worth $350, but you get it for FREE when you sign up for The Wholesale Formula course.
BONUS #4 – Exclusive Access to The Wholesale Confidence Building Masterclass (Value = Priceless
One of the missing ingredients to having success with wholesale scouting, sourcing, and selling is… CONFIDENCE. For those who lack the confidence, it’s easy to give up and convince yourself that you can’t achieve your wholesale success goals. A lack of confidence might cause certain brand owners to not let you sell their bran items on Amazon.
In this masterclass, I’ll show you how to gain confidence in your wholesale sourcing, confident conversations with brand owners, and how to make confident decisions on which and how many wholesale items to buy to sell on Amazon. This master class will set you apart from your competition by giving you the confidence you need to succeed faster than if you did it all on your own.
Again, this exclusive master class is only for those who purchase The Wholesale Formula via my link.
That’s over $2000 in FREE bonuses just for getting The Wholesale Formula through my link.

Stephen, I’ve been struggling with RA/OA and have seen little to no profit. During my 1st Q4 (2018) I sold almost $10k worth of product, but made virtually nothing. I would still consider myself a newbie and wanted to know in addition to the price of the course how much would I need to invest realistically to make this work? For example, do I need to subscribe to other software? What about inventory purchases? Do you have to buy thousands of dollars worth of inventory or starting out in the hundreds? I believe you that the course is worth it, but if you spend all your money on the course and have limited funds to buy inventory would it be worth it then? Hope that makes sense. Looking forward to your response.
Stephen Smotherman says
Jason, great question. I understand the frustration to spend money on inventory only to not make any profits. It looks like you need to sell items with more ROI which wholesale sourcing will most definitely will help with. I would say that having $1000 or so to use for inventory spread across a few wholesale accounts would be the best way to start. It’s totally possible with only $500 for inventory, but might be a slower progress to ramp up your business. The cost of the course (one time payment and payment pans available) is found at this link: https://www.fulltimefba.com/wholesaleformula
Irshad says
Good information, thanks. What is so different in this years TWF comparing to last year. Are we not all competing against each other.
Stephen Smotherman says
This year’s edition of The Wholesale Formula is an upgrade from the last edition. It has many more video modules that include the most up to date information on starting and growing your wholesale Amazon business. New strategies are taught that have proven results. Yes, technically we’re all competing with each other, but there is WAY MORE than enough wholesale opportunities to go around for everyone who takes the TWF course to learn the same strategies and still make great (life-changing) money selling wholesale on Amazon. For more info: https://www.fulltimefba.com/wholesaleformula
Edith Russo says
Based on this question, it doesn’t sound like you get updates. Or am I missing something?
Stephen Smotherman says
Anyone who gets TWF gets lifetime updates as part of their purchase.
Alan Young says
Jungle Scout and AMZScout support Private Label (buying thru Alibaba and other sources).I have AMZScout and I like their approach and potential training model.
Wouldn’t the wholesale approach be more risky and more difficult to find meaningful product??
Or what is the good and bad about each process??
Stephen Smotherman says
For me, wholesale is WAY better and much more profitable than Private Label. Wholesale also has much lower risk involved. With wholesale sourcing, you’re finding products that are ALREADY successfully selling fast and at high profit margins on Amazon… and joining to sell those proven items. You know your items will sell before you source them. Wholesale sourcing already has sales pages on Amazon with great reviews, great search results, and consistent customers. You already know when you buy your product that the item you want to sell is a winner.
With Private Label, you not only have to come up with the product idea, but then find a way to make your product stand out from the millions of other products on Amazon. You have to create your product in such a way gets you the good sales rank, good reviews, and customers. Private label involves WAY more work with WAY more risk of failure.
Sure, some find success (as with anything) with PL, but if you’re looking for a less risky way to make good money on on Amazon – with a with a proven success rate, then (in my opinion) Wholesale sourcing is the way to go.

Hi Stephen,
Was wondering about how long you think it takes just to view the course? And approximately how long it took you to put these steps/ideas from the course into action to really get your moneys worth? On top of the course do you need to have/buy other tools to implement the strategies they give you?
Stephen Smotherman says
How long to complete the course: The course is laid out to be completed in 4-6 weeks. But there are action steps you can take after the first module so that you can be moving forward quickly.
How long to put the course into action: It’s depending on the time you have available to put in the work, but after 3 months I had a few wholesale accounts I was already re-ordering from and had made the money back of the cost of the course. Your timing could be quicker or slower depending on your time commitments.
More costs: The course offers both free and paid tools to help speed up the process, but they are optional.
Hope this helps! More info: https://www.fulltimefba.com/wholesaleformula
Dorothy Musacchio says
Hi Stephen,
I’ve been looking for a way to launch my FBA business on Amazon. Is a wholesale model a good launch pad to getting started on Amazon FBA or should I do regular RA or OA first? Has anyone ever been successful just doing wholesale to get started?
Love your content and materials. Just haven’t jumped in the FBA pool yet.
Stephen Smotherman says
I think both strategies are good for a beginner. You can start with RA/OA first… or wholesale first. There have been countless people who started directly with wholesale only and are making 6-figures per year with only wholesale. RA/OA is better for those who want to grow slowly, and wholesale is best for those who want to grow quickly, and The Wholesale Formula course is the best way to learn wholesale from the beginning. Plus, if you get the course via my link (www.fulltimefba.com/wholesaleformula) then you’ll get ALL my active books/courses as a FREE BONUS so you’ll really have all the training you need to be successful on Amazon! Jump into the FBA pool… the water is great!
Dorothy Musacchio says
Well I’ve finally jumped into the pool and purchased the WSF course. I’m looking forward to this new adventure and look forward to taking your master class as well. Thanks for giving me the push to finally jump in. The two hour course today really helped me feel better about the decision as well.
Michael says
How has it worked for you?
Alexandros says
Have not Started yet with FBA,only have done some dropshipping sales untill Amazon suspended my account! my question is if the whole salers trust people living outside USA AND give us permission since we do not have VAT Registered accounts in USA?
Stephen Smotherman says
Yes, there are countless wholesalers who love selling to international resellers. Each one may have different requirements, but almost all allow international sellers to buy for resale.
Alan Young says
One member of the Wholesale Formula mentioned that the wholesaler eventually dropped the program because they saw more profits with a direct relationship with Amazon. Is there a calculated risk of this occurrence and /or is this just part of the protocol of the program?
Stephen Smotherman says
I have never heard of that happening before but I guess it’s a small possibility. As with any strategy, there are pros and cons. The positives of wholesale totally outweigh the negatives like the one you mentioned. I would never expect this to happen, but if it does, it would probably be only a minuscule fraction of your wholesale accounts.
Terri says
Does The Wholesale Formula cover how to get ungated in products?
Stephen Smotherman says
Yes! One of the modules is called, “Brand Gating and Authorization” and walks you through the process of becoming an authorized seller of the brand you’re wanting to sell on Amazon. Click the following link to find out more about The Wholesale Formula: https://www.fulltimefba.com/wholesaleformula
Alan Young says
Does ‘MyPrepCenter’ honor the 25% discount offered by TWF? And where is MyPrepCenter’ located? Is it convenient for all locations of product?
Stephen Smotherman says
They are in Michigan. You can reach out to them and ask if they honor the coupon here: https://www.fulltimefba.com/myprepcenter
Alan Young says
I registered thru your link but I did not see any clarification that it was from Fulltime…
Please advise.
Stephen Smotherman says
I see your purchase. I’ll email you shortly after the cart closes on how to access your bonus package from me. Thanks!

Edith Russo says
Hi Stephen,
I love the idea of wholesale, and this is definitely a different way of approaching it, butI can see how it works.
I have a couple questions for you:
1) are the videos capable of viewing faster than 1X, I cannot watch videos where people are talking slow, it puts me to sleep. Like the videos in FB, you cannot go faster, but in YouTube, you can.
2) Adding value to the wholesale partner, I remember one is talking about PPC or sponsored ads, do they get into details on how to become knowledgeable/expert in all the value-add propositions? I think I remember 25 or 27 ways of adding value.
If I decide to sign-up, I’m looking forward to your bonuses too!
Thanks!
Edith
Stephen Smotherman says
Yes, wholesale is amazing and is the best way to go for long-term success. To answer your questions:
1. Yes, you can speed up the videos from 1x to 1.25x, 1,5x, 1.75x, up to 2x.
2. Yes, every value proposition they mention is taught to you in great detail so you’ll be able to do all of the value props possible. Or you can train someone with these videos to outsource the value props.
Edith Russo says
Great news! I’m in!
Stacy says
Hi Stephen!
I’m very interested in TWF.
I was wondering with TWF model, do we upfront the inventory costs too?
and we order the inventory and the manufacturer sends the goods to the Amazon Fulfillment Centre directly?
Approximately how much should I budget to get my wholesale business started?
Thank you so much!
Best wishes,
Stacy
Stephen Smotherman says
Some wholesale companies will offer you net terms (a certain time period you can pay later after getting the products) but you usually have to apply for that and meet their guidelines.
Some brands will send directly to Amazon while some will not. You need to work that out with each individual brand. But you can also have a brand send inventory to a prep center where they will prep and send your inventory to Amazon. For more on prep centers, click here.
I would say that $1500 to $2000 will give you a solid start with buying/reselling wholesale.
Also, be sure you are on the wait list to be notified the next time TWF is open again.
Felix says
Good morning Stephen, thank you for all of the information. I wanted to know if the TWF course offers mentoring, tutoring?
Stephen Smotherman says
Yes! When they open the doors again in 2021 (sometime in February) the course purchase cost will include short term coaching. I’m not sure of the details, but I think each person who gets The Wholesale Formula will get around 6 weeks of coaching included in the cost, and the opportunity to sign up for continued paid coaching after the first 6 weeks has been completed. It’s an amazing coaching program and I think you’ll love it. Get on the wait list to be notified when the doors are open again: https://www.fulltimefba.com/wholesaleformula

KC says
My question is:
Is the main listing on Amazon that of the original seller, and we are trying to become a wholesaler under their listing? If so, why would someone purchase from a link off to the side that says additional sellers, instead of just purchasing right from the main listing? I am just hung up with how the sales get divided up? Hope that makes sense 🙂
Stephen Smotherman says
Most of the listings on Amazon are created by the brand, but other times a listing is created by someone else. But to get approved for gated items, your best bet is to get approved directly from the brand.
As for the Buy Box (the main “buy now” location on a sales page), the 3rd party seller who is selling in that location rotates and changes. The main goal of Amazon sellers to to get their inventory in the buy box as much as possible. Search “buy box” on this blog and read a few posts to best understand how it works. Basically, 80% of the sales come from the buy box, with about 20% of sales going to the shoppers who buy from the list of other sellers.
Hope this helps!
Rich says
Hi Stephen –
We purchased TWF through your link. When do you plan on sending out your bonus material?
Thanks!
Stephen Smotherman says
I’ll be sending you an email with instructions on how to access your bonus package sometime early next week (when TWF confirms your purchase via my link). Thanks for asking… and enjoy TWF!
